Organizations including car dealerships and airplane hangars are saving thousands of dollars by retrofitting their existing lighting fixtures with energy-efficient replacements. In many cases, lighting retrofits pay for themselves in about two years. As an example, the Columbiana Buick Cadillac car dealership in Northeast Ohio used Energy Efficient Lighting Supply to retrofit the lighting in three parking lots to reduce energy use. By replacing metal halide fixtures with induction lamps and ballast, it cut the wattage of each fixture by 68 percent or 755 watts. Each lot was lighted by 50 1,000-watt metal halide fixtures.
